The guy in this story used to work with my husband. I love them, although, I can’t believe they agreed to be in this story. And yes I realize the irony in making that statement considering I’ve made my entire relationship public through my own writing!
Cry Me A River
Went to another RANDnext policy discussion. I just love that there’s a way for us to participate and support such a renowned research institute. This one was on California’s water crisis and moderated by Molly Peterson from KPCC. It got rather heated. I always hate when people use a Q&A as a chance to argue. But the speakers were fascinating. I love the proposal for meters that track inside vs. outside use and would have different pricing for both.
The Emmys
Went to the Emmys tonight with my friend Jessica who I met in pre-school! We’re sitting right behind the Transparent posse if you’re watching at home!
Vegetarians Conquer the World
Yeah for the fake meat revolution! Vegetarianism isn’t all or nothing. Meat eaters eating less meat is a big victory for us all!
And I’ll Write You a Tragedy
We finally caught up on HBO’s Show Me a Hero about public housing in Yonkers. My mom kept saying that the way people talk in the show reminded her of my Bubbie, my Great-Grandmother, because she and my Great-Grandfather used to live in Yonkers. Of course, it’s a little awkward because all the people from Yonkers on the show are racist. But we’re probably all descended from people who were a little racist. But either way, I loved the show. David Simon has to be the most brilliant show runner in the history of TV. No one else could possibly make good TV about a fight over low-income housing.
